A Scavenger Hunt That Helps Build Early Literacy Skills

Brighton, MI – February 18 – Families are invited to the fourth annual Family Fun Event. Join the excitement by participating in a lively outdoor scavenger hunt, March 1 through March 12. Designed for children ages 0-5 and their grown-up, the activities will show families that literacy is everywhere! The scavenger hunt will have children exploring five pre-reading skills through imaginative play and fun outdoor activities. Register for the scavenger hunt by going to https://bit.ly/familyfun22.

Upon completion of the scavenger hunt, registered participants will receive one free Brain Builder Bag per family, while supplies last. The bag must be picked up at the library you registered with, March 14-19. The bag includes one free book, a reading list for kids 0-5, a Five Little Monkey puppet to create songs and rhymes with your child, a laminated alphabet mat with Playdough, and creative yet simple early literacy activities that can be done at home or on-the-go.

The Livingston Early Literacy Collaborative believes in the importance of celebrating early literacy. This event highlights how fun and easy it is to explore early pre-reading skills. By singing, reading, writing, talking or playing, children are learning about language, the world around them, while building a strong foundation for their success in school and life. Explore Livingston County and discover that literacy can be found right where we live!

This event is sponsored by Livingston Early Literacy Collaborative which includes:  Brighton, Fowlerville, Hamburg, Hartland Cromaine, Howell, and Pinckney Libraries, Great Start Livingston, Child Connect for Family Success, Livingston ESA, and Michigan State University Extension.
