Sticking around Livingston County for spring break and need something to do? Below you will find ideas for each day to keep your child ages 0-8 busy all week long!

If you are unable to get out, just remember that time at home simply playing, talking, singing and reading with your child is enough. We are here for you if you need Early Childhood resources!

2025 Spring Break Ideas for Livingston County Littles

Saturday, March 22

  • All day. Downtown Brighton Scavenger Hunt. Beginning Saturday, March 22 and ending Saturday, March 29, visit downtown Brighton for some free family fun! Pick up your clue sheet(s) from 2 Dandelions Bookshop and go around to match each clue to a business. Walk to that business, find the picture of the book and write the title on your sheet. Once you’re finished, go back to the bookshop for a small prize. *NOTE* The bookstore is closed on Mondays. FREE.
  • All day. Visit Cromaine District Library in Hartland for Picture Book Saturday. Stop by the second floor any time during the day for fun crafts and activities around different picture book characters. The day’s picture book theme: Pete the Cat!
  • 11 a.m. Storytime with Michigan children’s author Emmy Castner at 2Dandelions Bookshop. Emmy Kastner is an author and illustrator and illustrator of books for kids, including WHILE YOU’RE ASLEEP, A VERY BIG FALL, the Nerdy Babies series, and her newest book, SO TORTOISE DUG. She co-founded the youth writing center, Read and Write Kalamazoo, and is a former teacher. She and her family live in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Register to attend.
  • 1 p.m. Celebrate World Coyote Day at Howell Nature Center. Visit HNC to learn about our local coyotes and other canine friends. Visitors can make enrichment for the coyotes and foxes and watch a training session with our ambassador coyote, Kala. General Admission for adults is $12 and children $10, member admission for adults is $10 and children is $8. Register here.

Sunday, March 23

  • 3-4 p.m. Boychoir of Ann Arbor at Brighton Library. Enjoy a musical afternoon with The Boychoir of Ann Arbor.  For almost 40 years, the Boychoir has been enriching the lives of boys who love to sing while also enhancing the cultural life of the greater Ann Arbor area.  All ages welcome!

Monday, March 24

  • 11 a.m. Read, Music, Play Early Literacy Class at Howell Carnegie Library. Children attend this class with a parent/caregiver. This program is geared towards infants through young 3 year olds, although all ages are welcome and should enjoy the program. The format is a mix of songs, stories, rhymes/fingerplays and time to socialize with the others in the group. Drop in; FREE.
  • 12-1:30 p.m. SELCRA Spring Break Pizza and Paint Party in Brighton. Visit SELCRA for a fun ocean themed paint and pizza party! All supplies included for this instructor led art project Grab your friends and let’s party. Ages 6+. (Non-residents: $30 / Residents: $25). Register here.
  • 4-5 p.m. Life Size Mario Kart at Pinckney Community Library. Join us for Mario Kart Life Size fun! Hopping balls will be our karts as two racers at a time take on Mario style obstacles on our indoor obstacle course! Drop in, no registration required. Children younger than 9 must have an adult with them in the library. 

Tuesday, March 25

  • 9:30 a.m. Read, Music, Play Early Literacy Class at Howell Carnegie Library. Children attend this class with a parent/caregiver. This program is geared towards infants through young 3 year olds, although all ages are welcome and should enjoy the program. The format is a mix of songs, stories, rhymes/fingerplays and time to socialize with the others in the group. Drop in; FREE.
  • 10 a.m. Family Storytime at Fowlerville Library. For families with littles to learn, play, and grow through a variety of stories, songs, rhymes, movements, and activities. Playtime and crafts included!  
  • 10:15 a.m. Music Time at Brighton Library for ages 0-2. Join Miss Mandy from Music Time! of Milford for a musical morning! We’ll sing, dance, and make music together!  For ages 0-2 with a caregiver. Register.
  • 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Wildlife In Your Backyard at Pinckney Community Library. Howell Nature Center will introduce you to some of their Wildlife Ambassadors and teach you about the wildlife found around our homes! Learn their characteristics and behaviors, how they can benefit us, and what we can do to help them survive in the wild world. This is a live animal program at the Pinckney Public Library.
  • 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Spring Break at 2|42! Visit 2|42 Community Center in Brighton for FREE family fun while the kids are off school! 11:15-11:35 a.m.: Read, Music Play with Howell Carnegie Library (designed for kids 0-3; in Kids Park) 1-3 p.m.: – Family Scavenger Hunt (field) -Family Board Game Time (students auditorium) -Crafts (kids park). Remember – kids under 15 must be accompanied by an adult
  • 11:15 a.m. Music Time at Brighton Library for ages 3-5. Join Miss Mandy from Music Time of Milford for a musical morning! We’ll sing, dance, and make music together!  For ages 3-5 with a caregiver. Register.
  • 3-4:30 p.m. Upcycled Crafts at Brighton District Library. Do you love to create? So do we! With oodles of leftover craft supplies and lots of other creative materials, you can craft to your heart’s content. What will you make? Ages 4-12 with a caregiver. Drop in. 
  • 6 p.m. Family Fun with Karen Bell-Brege and Darrin Brege at 2Dandelions Bookshop. Join us for a fantastically fun family event with art and writing how-to’s, voice impersonations, comedy, and more! Plan for around an hour of solid family entertainment! Registration is encouraged.

Wednesday, March 26

  • 10 a.m. Toddler Storytime at Fowlerville District Library. A storytime for the littlest littles to learn, play, and grow through a variety of stories, songs, rhymes and movements that appeal to short attention spans. Best for ages 0-3.
  • 10 a.m. FREE Musik Garten Class at St. George’s in Brighton. Visit St. George’s for a FREE Musik Garden class. Drop-in. No registration required.
  • 10:30 a.m. Stickerpalooza at Brighton District Library. Come to the Library and make your very own sticker creation! We’ll have oodles of stickers and paper for you to decorate, plus crayons and colored pencils for doodling. For all ages (0-12) with a caregiver. Drop in.
  • 10:45 a.m. FREE Gymnastics Class at St. George’s in Brighton. Children ages 1-6 are invited to St. George’s to explore gym equipment, practice skills and socialize for free. 
  • 11 a.m. Book Bingo at 2Dandelions Bookshop in Brighton. Visit 2 Dandelions for Book Bingo! You MUST register for this event and can do so HERE.
  • 11 a.m. Primary Artists at Finding Roots in Howell. Join us with your little primary artist to enjoy literacy and art. In this class, your little artist will listen to the book, “Pete the Cat” by Eric Litwin and work on a project that coincides with the book. Dress for mess. Limited seating so plan to register. $8/child.
  • 11 a.m. Family Early Literacy Class at Howell Carnegie Library. This class is geared toward 3- to 5-year-olds and their parent(s)/caregiver(s). Each class consists of 30 minutes of songs, stories, rhymes/fingerplays, and letter recognition, followed by playtime to socialize with others in the group. Drop-in session.
  • 12-3 p.m. Spring Break at 2|42! Visit 2|42 Community Center in Brighton for FREE family fun while the kids are off school! 12-1 p.m.: Workout/game with Coach Hannah (designed for middle/high schoolers; field), 1-2 p.m.: Yoga with Coach Jodi (designed for middle/high schoolers; field), 1-3 p.m.: Inflatables, parachutes, hula hoops, jump ropes, etc. (field).
  • 3 p.m. Moana 2 Showing at Pinckney Community Library. Visit the library for a movie!

Thursday, March 27

  • 10 a.m. Tot Time at Oceola Community Center in Howell. Drop in at the Oceola Community Center Thursdays from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. for Tot Time in the gym. Kids Under 5 and their caregivers are welcome to use the gymnasium space during this time. Strollers may be pushed on the rubber flooring around the gym, kids can run around the gym space, and there are soccer and basketballs available. $2/Adult (kids under 5 are free).
  • 11 a.m. Primary Artists at Finding Roots in Howell. Join us with your little primary artist to enjoy literacy and MESSY ART! Children will be able to fully express themselves and get messy with creative MESSY ART! Dress for mess. Limited seating. Pre-registration required. $10/child.
  • 1-4 p.m. Spring Break at 2|42! Visit the field at 2|42 from 1-3 p.m. for a family movie with FREE popcorn. Some chairs available; bring a blanket or a camp chair to make your own cozy spot!
  • 1-2 p.m. Children’s Author Visit at 2Dandelions Bookshop in Brighton. Visit 2 Dandelions Bookshop to join Vicky Lorencen, author of The Big Book of Barf, a Spewnami of Sick Science, Hurled History and Body Oddities, as we slide into spewtastic science activities and learn some inside secrets about our busy bodies. Register for this event by clicking HERE.
  • 2 p.m. Reptiles at Howell Carnegie Library. The Reptarium is visiting the Howell Carnegie District Library with live reptiles—including snakes, lizards, and more! This engaging presentation allows you to interact with the animals up close and learn fun facts about them. This free event is geared toward families with children ages 4 and up. Drop-in; no registration required.
  • 2-4 p.m. Crafternoon at Finding Roots in Howell. Visit from 2-4 p.m. for a Spring Break Crafternoon. All ages welcome with a paid adult.  Enjoy a few hours of crafting. No experience needed and all supplies included. Limited seating. Pre-registration required. $12/crafter.
  • 4-5 p.m. Kid’s Club at Fowlerville District Library. Play a game, complete a craft or activity, and still build with your favorite bricks. 

Friday, March 28

  • 10-10:50 a.m. Splash & Play at Hartland Pool. Children 5 and under only, and an adult must be in the water with the child. This is a pre-pay event, cost varies on the number of swimmers. Register here.
  • 10:15 a.m. Parent Playgroup at Brighton District Library. Parents need play dates too! Stop by the library to relax and visit with other parents while your littles play. For caregivers of children ages 0-2. Registration is not required. Just drop in!
  • 11 a.m. Firefighter Story Time at 2Dandelions Bookshop in Brighton. Visit for a special story time featuring Brighton Area Fire Authority firefighters! Listen to stories and then stay to explore a real firetruck right outside our back door. Registration is REQUIRED for this event. Register here.

Saturday, March 29

  • 11 a.m. Anastasia Story Time at 2 Dandelions Bookshop in Brighton. Join us for a special story time presented by the Brighton High School musical cast of Anastasia!
