2025 Livingston County Shop With A Cop Program Now Open

Livingston County law enforcement agencies with the support of Walmart, Livingston County Department of Health and Human Services, and The Well Church are planning the 21st annual day to Shop with a Cop.

Livingston County’s Shop with a Cop program has made Christmas memorable for thousands of local children and families. The event builds positive relationships between kids and law enforcement. Each child is paired with a local police officer and joins a lights-and-sirens parade to Walmart. There, they shop for Christmas wish list items using a set budget. After shopping, everyone enjoys breakfast while Santa’s elves wrap the gifts.

The Shop with a Cop Committee is now accepting referrals for Livingston County children ages 5 to 14 years old who have been impacted by the legal, court, or child welfare systems.

Review and download the nomination form below. Nominations are due by October 31, 2025.

There will be a committee meeting held in November to review nominations, and the parent/guardian will be notified by mail with more information. Only the children selected will be able to participate. It is important if there are any address changes that we be notified as soon as possible.

If you have any further questions, contact Lacey Hinton at the Livingston County DHHS at 517-715-9775 or HintonL@michigan.gov

The Shop with a Cop event will take place on December 6, 2025 at 8 a.m.
