Why is preschool important?
Research shows the quality of care a child receives by age five strongly impacts their success in school and in life. A recent study shows the learning and social-emotional benefits young children gain from attending a high-quality early childhood program that lasts at least into their teenage years.

LESA Early Childhood Programs: Head Start and Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP)
- Head Start and Great Start Readiness Preschool programs support the growth and school readiness of children ages 3 and 4 in a fun and nurturing environment.
- Both high-quality preschool programs are available at reduced or no cost for eligible families with children ages three and four with classrooms located throughout Livingston County in both local schools and community-based partner programs.
