A New Place for Every Child to Play, Connect, and Belong!

There's something exciting happening in Marion Township! Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority and Marion Township are celebrating the grand opening of a new all-access playground at Fred Brown Park, and Livingston County families are invited to join the celebration.

For families raising young children, playgrounds are so much more than places to burn off energy. They're spaces where children explore, develop new skills, build friendships, and discover the joy of playing together.

This new playground represents an important investment in creating a community where children and families of different ages and abilities have opportunities to participate, connect, and feel a sense of belonging.

Why Inclusive Play Matters

At Great Start Livingston and Help Me Grow Livingston, we believe every child deserves opportunities to learn, grow, and participate in their community.

Play is one of the most important ways young children learn. Whether they're climbing, exploring, pretending, or making new friends, children are developing skills that support their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Accessible and inclusive playgrounds can help reduce barriers to participation and create more opportunities for children with different abilities to enjoy play alongside one another.

Accessibility helps make play possible.
Inclusion helps make belonging possible.

When we create welcoming spaces for children of all abilities, we also create opportunities for families to build relationships, strengthen community connections, and learn from one another.

A Community Investment in Play and Belonging

The new playground was made possible through matching grant funding from the Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority, PlayCore, and Sinclair Recreation. Marion Township contributed the land and helped bring the vision for this community space to life.

The grand opening is an opportunity to recognize the organizations and community partners who helped make this project possible.

We appreciate their commitment to expanding opportunities for recreation, connection, and belonging in Livingston County.
