Early On Support for Children 0-3
How can the Livingston Educational Service Agency (LESA) help if you suspect your infant or child may need more help?
LESA supports children in the community ages birth through 3 with the help of our Early On program. This caregiver coaching program provides caregivers with new strategies and ideas to support the development of their child in their natural environments, such as the home. If your child experienced medical complications at birth, or if your child seems to need support with reaching milestones, please reach out to our Early On program at Livingston Educational Service Agency. Evaluation teams may be able to determine whether your child qualifies for ongoing services using our Primary Service Provider (PSP) model which is delivered by a range of highly qualified special education and family service providers.
What is a Primary Service Provider (PSP) model?
The Primary Service Provider Model is based around the following principles:
- Families know their children best.
- Families and caregivers play the most important role in a child’s life and the daily interactions between families and children have the greatest impact on child progress.
- Children learn best in their natural environments.
- Families prefer to have one consistent person working with them over time.
- Services should be provided in the least intrusive manner, which includes being aware of the number of professionals involved with a family at any one time.
- Commitment to a strength-based approach when working with children and families.
- Respecting and sharing of individual skills between team members and within the organization.
What is the cost for an evaluation and/or services?
- There is NO COST to you for an evaluation.
- There is NO COST to you if your child qualifies for Early On services.
How might you qualify following an evaluation?
- If your child has an established condition such as a medical diagnosis, your child may then qualify for services.
- If your child is found to have a 20% delay in a developmental area.
- If your child is found eligible as a child with a Michigan Mandatory Special Education (MMSE) eligibility.
