Honor April As Child Abuse Prevention Month with Programs from LACASA

LACASA Center’s Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Council joins child abuse and neglect organizations across Michigan and around the country each April to commemorate National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA) chose the blue pinwheel, an uplifting reminder of the happy and safe childhood that every child deserves, as the national symbol for child abuse and neglect prevention.

CAP’s Plant a Pinwheel Campaign includes community events, social media outreach, and fundraising efforts that support community-wide child abuse prevention programs.

Join our team for the Plant a Pinwheel celebration event on April 2, 2025 from 12 – 1 p.m. at the Howell Carnegie Library to begin Child Abuse Prevention Month in April.

Additionally, children and county students are encouraged to share art work to showcase the month. Examples as well as a coloring sheet are included below.

Additionally, the CAP Council will also hold a free training series throughout April at LACASA that includes information on reducing child sexual violence and the impact of early childhood trauma on brain development. Register HERE.
