Lead Safe Home
Protecting you and your child from the harmful effects of lead
Winter is on its way, which means we will be spending more time indoors. For those with infants or young children at home or visiting during the holidays, it is especially important to ensure that the home environment is lead safe. If your home was built before 1978, you and your family could be at risk of exposure to lead hazards. We at MDHHS-DEH work with Local Health Departments to offer eligible Michigan residents lead inspection and abatement services. To learn more about eligibility and how to apply, visit Michigan.gov/MiLeadSafe/Lead-Services.
Lead services are available to help:
- Find and fix lead hazards
- Identify lead in drinking water hazards
- Lower your child’s elevated blood lead level
