Help support your child’s success in school and in life!
Week 1 – Why, Why, Why
- This session focuses on how children think, understand, and learn. Learn the importance of repeating activities to support children’s developing brains, how giving children choices can strengthen thinking and decision-making skills, the effect of stress or strong emotions on children’s thinking, and how to help children calm down.
Week 2 – Feelings 101
- Learn why having a positive caregiver-child relationship is important, respecting children’s feelings by naming or labeling those feelings, and establishing regular routines for challenging parts of a child’s day so the child knows what is coming next and can learn to control responses.
Week 3 – Use More Words
- Learn how to have conversations with children, understanding conversation stoppers, and developing skills for adding new words and extending vocabulary and conversations.
Week 4 – Ready to Read
- Understand the importance of reading books to children, using strategies for engaging children in the reading process, and finding opportunities to build literacy skills through activities such as using rhyming throughout the day.
