Shop with a Cop 2026: Nominations Open for Livingston County Children
Livingston County is getting ready for the 22nd annual Shop with a Cop event, an opportunity that brings local law enforcement officers and children together for a special day of connection, community and holiday shopping.
Programs like Shop with a Cop provide an opportunity for children and law enforcement officers to build positive connections while helping families experience a little extra holiday joy. Thank you to the local organizations and community partners who continue to make this event possible for Livingston County children and families!
Local law enforcement, with the support of Walmart, Cleary University, Livingston County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), and The Well Church, are planning this year’s event for selected children in our community.
Who can be nominated?
Livingston County children ages 5 through 14 who meet the age requirement of being 5 on or before December 1, 2026, may be considered if they:
- Are at risk or have experienced challenging circumstances;
- Have been negatively impacted by the legal system; or
- Have a family that has been involved with various community human service agencies.
The Livingston County DHHS is coordinating the selection process and is currently accepting nominations.
How to nominate a child
Community members who know a child who may benefit from this opportunity can submit a nomination. Referrals will only be accepted using the official nomination form.
When completing the form:
- Complete one form per family and include all age-eligible children in the household.
- Include a detailed statement explaining how the child or children qualify for the program. Because space is limited, this information may be an important part of the selection process.
- A legal parent or guardian must sign the required release.
- Include phone numbers for last-minute notifications.
A nomination does not guarantee selection. A committee will meet in November to select participants, and parents or guardians of selected children will be notified by mail with additional instructions. Only children selected for the program will be able to participate.
Nomination deadline
Completed nomination forms must be returned by October 30, 2026.
