STEP INTO A STORYWALK® ADVENTURE

Follow the path and read the pages as your family embarks on an active journey through Livingston County StoryWalks.

Great Start Livingston is excited to bring StoryWalks to Livingston County. A StoryWalk is a literacy-boosting project which places an illustrated children’s book, taken apart and displayed spread-by-spread, along a walking route. The StoryWalk also encourages physical activity. Families will enjoy various parks throughout the community and will find various activities you can do as you move from page to page. We invite you to explore the StoryWalks and Reading Trails in our community.

Some days you wake up and you just gotta wokka. Wokka what? Wokka-wokka! It’s about movement. It’s about dance. It’s about shimmy-shakin’, be-boppin’, and more! It’s about gathering friends and joining the party.

When a girl and her dog set out on a canoe trip together, they’re expecting a quiet afternoon for two. Then a beaver decides to join them, even when the girl protests that “It’s a one-dog canoe.” And when a loon, and a wolf, and a bear, and a moose all ask for a ride, it’s almost too much. But they all manage to fit in this one-dog canoe―until a frog comes along. . . .

This charming tale of an overgrown pine who is always being passed by for Christmas, and what his woodland friends do to help him, has become a Christmas classic. With delightful illustrations by wildlife artist Michael Monroe and enchanting text from Colleen Monroe, the birds, deer and squirrel of this story help make their special friend’s wish come true.

Another year, another Christmas Eve. This year, Rudolph just wants to enjoy the holiday without having to work. So he convinces Santa to accept a substitute. The search for the perfect replacement results in an eager and resourceful moose, who knows just how to use a headlamp and a GPS. But on Christmas Eve, Rudolph worries: Was the moose’s training complete? Will Santa and Moosey be able to get all the presents where they need to be?

Here’s to the birds and the bears and the bugs! Here’s to the weird and wacky, the cute and creepy! Every creature is unique and lovable . . . especially you! David Elliott’s joyful poem and Randy Cecil’s brilliant, amusing artwork invite us to celebrate the world’s vast diversity — and feel pretty happy with our place in it, too.
