🌞 Free Summer Playdates for Families with Young Children – Great Start Livingston 2025

Looking for screen-free summer fun that supports your child’s development and connects you with other local families? You’re in the right place! Great Start Livingston is hosting five FREE Summer Playdates for families with children ages 0–8 and you’re invited.

Each event includes playful activities with our community partners, outdoor exploration, and meaningful ways to build early learning. Plus, every child receives a free book and a free snack (while supplies last). It’s a great way to enjoy summer with your little ones while supporting their growth.

📍 June 10 – Oceola Township Park

1661 N. Latson Rd., Howell, MI 48843
Tucked behind Oceola Township Hall, this quiet park features a large playground, grassy open space, and the popular StoryWalk trail that winds around a soccer field. It’s a great place for both structured and free play.

📍 June 26 – Pinckney Town Square

E. Main St., Pinckney, MI 48169
Right in the heart of Pinckney, this charming town square includes a gazebo and walkable space perfect for relaxing and connecting. Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy time with other families downtown.

📍 July 17 – SELCRA Meijer Park

333 Charles H Orndorf Dr., Brighton, MI 48116
A 4-acre park owned by the Southeastern Livingston County Recreation Authority. Park amenities include soccer fields, a softball field, basketball courts, portable pickleball & tennis courts as well as picnic spots and green space. SELCRA schedules low-cost programs and special events at the park such as Soccer. Tee Ball, Safety Town and Tot Olympics. Information about the park can be found on their website at www.selcra.com.

📍 July 30 – Genoa Township Park

This well-loved park offers two playgrounds (for toddlers and big kids), paved walking trails, a shaded picnic shelter, and a gentle misting water feature, perfect for cooling off on a warm summer morning. Be sure to check out the StoryWalk, where you can read a children’s book page by page along the path.

📍 August 12 – Manly W. Bennett Memorial Park East

10405 Merrill Rd., Whitmore Lake, MI 48189
A hidden gem just north of Hamburg, this beautiful park offers a playground, wide open field, and walking trails surrounded by nature. A peaceful spot to close out your summer playdate season.

The first five years are a time of rapid brain development and simple activities like reading, playing, and exploring outdoors build a strong foundation for future learning. These playdates support early literacy, encourage family bonding, and offer space for caregivers to connect.

No registration required—just show up and play!
