Thank You to Livingston County United Way & Women United for Supporting Great Start Livingston
Gratitude for a Partnership That Strengthens Livingston County Families
At Great Start Livingston and Help Me Grow Livingston, we believe strong communities begin with strong support for families of young children.
Recently, members of Women United, a leadership initiative of Livingston County United Way, gathered to assemble Growing Through STEAM kits in support of Great Start Livingston’s free community playdates. These kits will be distributed to young children and caregivers across Livingston County — helping families learn, connect, and grow together.
We are deeply grateful.
Standing With Us During a Critical Time
Over the past year, Great Start Livingston faced the loss of critical funding that supports early childhood coordination and family engagement work across the county. It was a challenging and uncertain season.
Livingston County United Way and Women United did not hesitate.
They stepped in to support our sustainability efforts.
They helped us pursue new grant opportunities.
They strengthened our ability to continue serving families.
Because of their partnership, Great Start Livingston remains open and actively supporting families throughout Livingston County.
This partnership truly matters.
Supporting Developmental Milestones Through Play
The Growing Through STEAM kits assembled by Women United are more than activity bags. They are tools intentionally designed to support developmental milestones in young children — especially ages 3–5.
Through hands-on exploration of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM), children strengthen skills connected to:
-
Fine motor development
-
Problem-solving and early math concepts
-
Communication and language growth
-
Social-emotional skills like persistence and cooperation
These developmental areas align with tools like the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) — a screening families can complete through Help Me Grow Livingston to better understand their child’s development.
When families attend a Great Start Livingston playdate, they are not just participating in activities. They are connecting to:
-
Developmental guidance and screenings
-
Parenting resources
-
Community supports
-
The Help Me Grow Livingston care coordination network
Women United’s support ensures more families leave those playdates with meaningful resources in hand.
Community in Action
Women United members are not only assembling STEAM kits — they are also joining us at upcoming playdates to help lead activities and connect with families directly.
This is what community looks like.
It looks like partnership.
It looks like investment in early childhood.
It looks like showing up when it matters most.
We are incredibly thankful to Livingston County United Way and Women United for standing with Great Start Livingston and Help Me Grow Livingston — and for helping ensure that Livingston County’s youngest children have the strong start they deserve.
With sincere appreciation,
Great Start Livingston / Help Me Grow Livingston
Building Community Connections that Support Families of Young Children.
