Howell, MI – The Livingston County Community Alliance (LCCA) is offering parents and students the chance to see a highly acclaimed documentary and participate in follow-up discussion. The discussion will be held right after the film with ACEs Master Trainer, Jennifer Tate. She will provide an in-depth discussion about the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE). From this event, the LCCA will help start a workgroup to increase the ACEs initiative in our county. If you are interested in joining the workgroup, please email: livingston.community.alliance@gmail.com
“The education given during this documentary could change the lives of our children, a must watch for all ages,” said Kelsey Wittla, Project Success Counselor.
On Thursday November 12th, the film Resilience will be shown at the Historic Howell Theater at 7pm. Registration is required at https://livingstonresilience.eventbrite.com. We ask all those who will attend to wear face masks and social distance.
RESILIENCE is a one-hour documentary that delves into the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the birth of a new movement to treat and prevent Toxic Stress. Now understood to be one of the leading causes of everything from heart disease and cancer to substance abuse and depression, extremely stressful experiences in childhood can alter brain development and have lifelong effects on health and behavior. “The child may not remember, but the body remembers.”
“This film brings to light Adverse Childhood Experiences and how they can impact children in so many ways. ACEs can impact physical health, mental health, cognitive abilities and more which can last a lifetime. Let’s work together to learn more about trauma, the impact of trauma and how we can support our children and families,” said Robin Schutz, Coordinator at Great Start Livingston & Livingston Promise.
The LCCA is a county-wide, anti-drug coalition that aims to unite the Livingston County community to reduce and prevent youth substance use and to live a safe and drug free lifestyle. Our purpose is to connect the Livingston County community to establish and promote healthy community norms concerning the use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco.
