Supporting Breastfeeding Families this August and Beyond

It’s National Breastfeeding Month, and we are shining a light on efforts taking place in Michigan to promote and support breastfeeding families.

Genesee County WIC recently released a series of videos promoting breastfeeding in Genesee County. Each person featured in the videos is either a WIC client or clinic staff member.

Resources for Livingston County Families

If you are in need of local resources, here’s a list to get you started:

Health Department Breastfeeding Resources:

  • Breastfeeding Rights Wallet Card – Do you have questions or concerns about your breastfeeding rights in the workplace? 
  • Breastfeeding Classes – Visit the Livingston County Health Department on the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 4:30 p.m. -5:30 p.m. for an in-person class. Additionally, there is an online option on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Register for either class by calling 517-546-5459.
  • Peer support for Breastfeeding – Contact Jennifer Kaiser at jkaiser@livgov.com or at 517-375-0554 to help with breast pumps, encouragement, a return-to-work plan and problem-solving.
